I am asking for your support to serve as Certification Coordinator for the next term. Serving as ISST Science & Research (S&R) Coordinator during 2016-2018 was an honor and a pleasure for me.
I am running for the ISST Certification Coordinator position after serving as Regional Certification Coordinator for East Europe for the last five years. Cooperation with Joan Farrell as ISST Training & Certification Coordinator together with the other members of the Certification Committee has taught me a lot. I share and going to follow her strong commitment to the ISST members and to Schema Therapy (ST) certification and would like to continue setting up the needed structures to firmly establish the transparent and clear certification process in ST. I am convinced of the importance of maintaining and developing high ST certification standards.
As a liaison representative of ISST at the EABCT (European Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy) I am going to continue coordination of the certification requirements as well as with other national ST Associations. Such coordination work with the Dutch ST Registry is already underway and have reached significant consistency.
My intensive activity in training and supervising internationally (12 countries) has allowed me to hear first-hand a wide range of concerns and needs from schema therapists in training and those in certification. I am aware of different certification issues including regional and national requirements differences. I understand how important it is to put into place a certification system that is not only transparent but also can be equally applied to all members in different countries. The growing numbers of certified therapists and approved ST training programs require establishing new structured administrative routings at the same time keeping bureaucracy at the lowest possible levels.
I understand that anyone running for this position needs to be prepared for the time commitment involved. The large network of amazing members active in the training and certification of ST that was established by Joan Farrell will allow us to poll opinions of the membership related to Certification issues, and to provide relevant feedback to the Board.
I would be pleased to serve as Certification Coordinator of the ISST Board and work with my colleagues for the further growth of prestige of Schema Therapy in professional community.
