The scope of our training includes guiding the trainees towards a comprehensive understanding of the most important aspects of Schema Therapy. They will learn how to use, with confidence, the case conceptualization and treatment formulation, and be offered the opportunity to gather experience for confidence/competence using the ST model.
For this reason practical experience to learn the strategies and practice them will play a central role.
Introduction in ST
Strategies in the ST
Help, with several video/live demonstrations, the trainees to learn how to apply ST strategies in treatment, to gain confidence and competence choosing relevant strategies and implementing them:
1. Experiential Strategies
a. Imagery work and imagery re-scripting
b. Mode work (confronting and bypassing maladaptive coping modes, engaging and (Limited) Reparenting -- child modes, fighting the punitive or demanding parent)
c. Historical role play (if time permits)
2. Cognitive techniques
3. Behavioral pattern-breaking
Therapy relationship and working with therapists’ own schemas
Help the trainees to identify their own schemas and modes and reconcile triggering conditions and emotional intensity, in order to maintain the necessary “realness” stance as limited re-parenting agents in the treatment.
2. Empathic confrontation
3. Limit setting
4. Appropriate self-disclosure
5. Working with the own schemas
Schema Mode Work with Personality disorder
Help the trainees to improve the already acquired competence in ST and to gain competence working with BDP, NPD and, if time permits with Cluster C
