About
As an Assistant Professor of Psychology and a licensed psychologist, I take passion in specializing in children, youth, and family matters. I have over 25years of experience in child psychology, women’s mental health, special education and school psychology, psychometric and neuropsychological assessments, performance improvement, and capacity building. In therapy, I try to facilitate the process of a client in solving their problems while providing guidance, support and compassion for their problems. Along that, I would try to support the client to draw their own conclusions and select the decision they believe best helps in resolving their issues. Both, the client and the therapist, set the goals for the sessions to attain the most desired outcomes. As a therapist, I’m well-versed in numerous mental health interventions including Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Child Play Therapy, Creative and Arts Therapy, Filial Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Trauma Therapy. I have a strong background in teaching psychology, as well as curriculum development, and home-to-school communication. Therapy is a collaborative journey of growth and healing. It is an opportunity for clients to develop their self-awareness and explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment. I believe that the therapist’s role is to build a healthy therapeutic relationship, to provide the client with the opportunity to discover more about themselves and their patterns of behavior that cause them difficulties, to help establish new, healthy ones. My philosophy as a therapist is to treat each person as a unique individual, who deserves unconditional acceptance and positive regard, regardless of personal situations or struggles. I entered this field because I always had a passion to listen to people and provide support to ensure that individuals reach their full potential in life, as well as overcome their difficulties. I have met many people throughout my life who were exposed to very tough situations like loss, separation, underachievement, and fear. It was through support and their own strengths and unique personality that they were able to overcome those difficult and tough times. I believe that the key to adjustment and a better life is improving how we view and define ourselves, as well as accomplishing a sense of purpose.
