Finetuning Imagery Rescripting & Chair dialogues

 07-08 September 2018

Institut für Schematherapie Frankfurt am Main
Germany

Imagery rescripting is a powerful experiential technique that uses the power of imagination and visualisation to identify and change meaningful and traumatic orders in the past, resulting in transformation in the present. The approach seeks to provide a corrective emotional order to assist in changing a client’s beliefs, emotions, and recollections. It has been a central feature of Schema Therapy, however more recently imagery rescripting has developed into a stand alone treatment for childhood trauma and other specialist areas such as social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and clinical nightmares.

Day 1: Fine-Tuning Imagery Rescripting: Together with Chris Hayes, Remco recorded video tapes with details how to apply Imagery Rescripting in various settings. They serve as a gold standard in this field. Both offered a workshop at the ISST-conference in Vienna that got the best feedback of all presented workshops. This is the first time Remco presents his skills in Germany, so don´t miss him!

Day 2: Fine-tuning Mode Dialogues on Chairs: Beside Imagery Rescripting, Mode dialogues are the second major experiential technique used in Schematherapy. While Imagery works with the memories of interpersonal situations, Mode dialogues on multiple chairs enable us to lay out the inner world of a patient in the room, re-externalize self-representations and work with them. Enrolling into these two workshop days you will get an update on both techniques fueling your practical skills.

About Presenter:

Remco van der Wijngaart "As a result of this involvement and my passion for the schema therapy model, I have spent years actively working to train and supervise therapists all over the world as they take their first steps with schema therapy. In recent years, I have become aware of a growing desire to actively contribute to the ISST Board. The results of recent elections offer me a chance to take that active role and help the ISST grow further into the healthy adult organisation it is more and more becoming."

Why Schema Therapy?

Schema therapy has been extensively researched to effectively treat a wide variety of typically treatment resistant conditions, including Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Read our summary of the latest research comparing the dramatic results of schema therapy compared to other standard models of psychotherapy.
