This outlook for the future is an extension of the President’s report. There are many ongoing projects that will continue into the term of the next Executive Board and will need the ongoing support from the Board. These cannot all be listed, but here are a few important ones.
Our Society has been expanding and an important task will be to consolidate and further develop the administrative infrastructure needed to enable to organization to run smoothly without being overly dependent on a few specific individuals. This could involve a major restructuring and a committee is reviewing this now but will need to continue well into the next term of the Board.
An ongoing task for the Board is to ensure that the committees that organize and run our Events, the INSPIRE conferences and the ENLIGHT workshop meetings, provide the same high quality of planning and organization that has been evident for the recent events of this nature.
As an international organization we have been expanding our understanding of the needs of countries where there is limited capacity for offering schema therapy training. The Development Programs Committee has been reviewing this and this is an important challenge going forward for this committee and the Society as a whole
We are an international organization with members who speak a large number of different languages. During the current term much work has gone in to setting up the infrastructure for ensuring that we have high quality translations of documents such as the schema therapy assessment instruments and the case conceptualization form. However further work remains to be done.
During this term we set up an Ethics and Conflict Resolution Committee. One of the tasks of this committee will be to consolidate and expand those ISST regulations that relate to ethical issues and to publish these on the website. One aspect of this will be an investigation of how our concept of limited reparenting might have ethical implications for practice.
Many of our committees are doing excellent work on an ongoing basis but some seem to have fallen into disuse. During this term we started to review all the committees using the organogram now featured on the website. However, the status of some our committees needs to be examined carefully and their functioning reviewed.
